The NEW STANDARD in Cold Storage

Snowman Cooler manufactures coolers and freezers to fill all of your cold storage needs.  We supply units for convenience stores, florists, grocers, restaurants and bars, schools and institutions, warehouses, mortuaries, and many other uses.  They are custom-made for each customer, test built in our facility to ensure an exact fit, and shipped out in weather-resistant packaging.

All our coolers and freezers are custom made and designed specifically to meet the needs of your customers. We can help you provide your customers with a walk-in beer cooler, a front of store floral display, a hidden storage cooler, and many more options. We will design your cooler or freezer into the perfect shape to fit your store, restaurant, school, florist, or mortuary. We work with you and your customers through each step in designing a custom cooler or freezer, and submit our design proofs for approval to ensure accuracy before we precision-cut each piece based on the approved designs.

Custom Design

All our coolers and freezers are custom made and designed specifically to meet the needs of your customers. We can help you provide your customers with a walk-in beer cooler, a front of store floral display, a hidden storage cooler, and many more options. We will design your cooler or freezer into the perfect shape to fit your store, restaurant, school, florist, or mortuary. We work with you and your customers through each step in designing a custom cooler or freezer, and submit our design proofs for approval to ensure accuracy before we precision-cut each piece based on the approved designs.

We pre-assemble all our freezers and coolers at our factory to ensure all modular panels fit securely, and we have included all design customizations. After a rigorous inspection, we label, package, and ship the components in weather-proof packaging for final assembly on site. We provide installation instructions here on the website and with each shipment, and our customer service department is here to answer any questions you may have.

Finishes

Your Snowman cooler comes standard with our Galvalume® Plus finish. Our walk-in coolers and freezers are available in the following interior and exterior finish colors:  Galvalume® Plus, Black, and White.

Many other finish color options are available upon request!

Modular Panels

We assemble our walk-in coolers and freezers using Galvalume® Plus clad, rigid tongue and groove polystyrene insulation. We fit the panels with rotary action cam-lock fasteners and equip them with extruded PVC gaskets, inside and out, to insure an easy, airtight assembly.

Flooring

Our standard flooring finish is smooth aluminum.  You can add options, including stainless steel, diamond tread plate, and additional reinforcement.

Doors

Our skilled craftsmen build flush-mount walk-in service doors in our manufacturing department.

All our service doors come standard with:

dual digital temperature display & switch

heavy-duty chrome door latch

safety release

LED light fixture with vapor proof seal

We can also provide retail access doors (e.g., reach-in, bi-fold, or automatic/manual slide) that we quote and order per your design specifications. These doors will be mounted during on-site assembly.

Accessories

We have first-quality accessories and fixtures available to you for an additional cost, including:

  • Flooring
  • Anti-Theft Fencing
  • Ramps
  • Display doors
  • Refrigeration systems
  • Rain roofs
  • Strip curtains
  • Ceiling supports
  • Additional LED lighting

heavy-duty chrome door hinges

hydraulic self-closing door latch

We can provide a waterproof membrane system for your cooler or freezer.

XPS Insulation

XPS vs. Polyurethane – the difference is clear!

The greatest factor in determining how well insulation will hold up in cold storage is how well it holds up to moisture. At Snowman Cooler we use extruded polystyrene (XPS) for our freezer and cooler insulation instead of polyurethane insulation. XPS insulation has a closed cell structure and is highly resistant to water. This XPS insulation, which is composed of hydrophobic polystyrene polymers, exceeds the R-Values required by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and the modified regulations enacted in 2009.

Regular polyurethane insulation has an open cell structure, which allows moisture to build up in the voids and this drastically lowers the R-Value of the insulation. The closed cell structure of XPS insulation better resists this build up of moisture, and therefore it retains its R-Value longer. XPS insulation, both initially and throughout the life of the walk-in, is the best choice for your needs.

  • Doesn’t retain water!
XPS insulation and polyurethane insulation were submerged in water for 365 days. XPS ONLY retained 0.3% of the water! In contrast, polyurethane insulation retained over 20%.*
  • Green and clean!
Our XPS insulation ranks highly for ecological sensitivity. Its stable R-Value, extreme resistance to moisture and corrosion, low flexibility, and compressive strength make XPS an excellent choice for non-toxic, environmentally friendly “green” insulation.
  • Better R-Value!
Over a period of 5 years, XPS retained 75% of its original R-Value, while polyurethane only retained 25%.**
  • Resists moisture!
The greatest factor in determining how well insulation will hold up in cold storage is how well it holds up to moisture. Although manufacturers who use polyurethane insulation now advertise that their insulation formula is “closed cell,” the process of foaming in place still results in voids forming within the insulation. Moisture and ice tends to form within those voids. This drastically lowers the R-Value of the insulation. The structure of XPS insulation does not create voids, therefore it better resists this build up of moisture, and the R-Value is retained longer. This is why we recommend XPS insulation for your freezer or cooler.
